Sunset Park Stabbing Today: Two men were hospitalized following a violent stabbing and slashing attack in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood early Thursday morning, according to police.
Officers responded to reports of an assault near 50th Street and 6th Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. Upon arrival, authorities found two injured men suffering from multiple wounds after what investigators described as a violent confrontation.
Police said one victim sustained numerous stab wounds across his body and was transported to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn in critical condition. Emergency crews provided urgent medical treatment at the scene before rushing him to the hospital, where he remains under intensive care.
The second victim suffered slash wounds to the neck and other parts of his body. Authorities said his injuries are serious but not considered life-threatening, and he is expected to recover.
Investigators say the suspect fled the area on foot immediately after the attack. The individual was described as a man dressed entirely in black who was last seen heading toward 6th Avenue. No arrests have been made.
Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residential buildings as part of the ongoing investigation. Police have not yet released information about a possible motive or whether the victims knew the suspect.
The attack prompted a significant emergency response, with officers blocking off parts of the intersection for several hours while crime scene investigators collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.
Residents in the Sunset Park community expressed concern following the early morning violence in a typically busy Brooklyn neighborhood. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts to contact police.
